Unacnowleged Philosophers

Mark Sunwall

Yes, with all due modesty, I would like to begin with me.  Not because I am a particularly good or noteworthy thinker, but because I have been able to overcome the circumstances of my education.   Not that I blame anyone who might have had a hand in my tuition, for they were all kinder taskmasters than I deserve.  Rather, I grew up in the ’60s and was in college in the ’70s, which pretty much tells it all.  It took a long time to get away from the point of view of Gorgias and Protagoras and into something more principled…but I have tired in my own way to struggle towards the light.  I don’t have all the answers, and never expect to this side of the great beyond, but I do now at least have the conviction that there is indeed an objective hierarchy of values, which some people are granted a clearer understanding of than others.   So there is a greater or lesser approach to truth with each individual….and viva la differance.
